If you play too hard because your heavily amplified bass doesn’t make it through the mix defined enough, your timing can easily get messy. No need to play hard on a BITE, you need less amplification, a soft stroke will get you well-defined through the mix and your timing will be just fine.

6. Easy on your fingertips
For your fretting hand, our fret ends are smoothly rounded and undercut, this means we manually remove the fret roots, called “tangs”, which often protrude on fretboard egdes of factory basses. As a result, your slides are a smooth pleasure.

On the plucking hand, it is once more insufficient pickup output which makes players overdo it. No need on a BITE bass, a soft stroke is enough to generate all the bass power you want.

What’s more, we install D’Addario^® EXL170 strings, the smoothest roundwounds in widescale testing.

7. No more noise nuisance
BITE applies a high-performance shielding paint that was developed for airplanes and life support equipment in hospitals, it is considerably more conductive than conventional graphite shielding paint. We thoroughly test shielding and grounding on each bass.

A tuned set of 4 bass strings exerts a pull of 1000 Newton on the neck. The BITE neck design includes a unique reinforced headstock heel shape and an embedded double steel rod which guarantees stable forces in both, push and pull direction, unlike traditional single truss rods where neck relief and setup are the volatile result of string tension, temperature and humidity.

A heavy bass can be a tiresome drag on long rehearsals and gigs. BITE Effortless basses are perfectly balanced light-weights. We use light compact tuners and downsized composite alder-paulownia or honeycomb-chambered alder bodies, happy to discuss what’s best for you. BITE Effortless basses average 3.3kg/7.3lbs – as light as it gets but without neck dive.

 

16. Optional bonus: Easy on your playing range
There’s a couple of songs you’ve been meaning to play for ages, but they require you to buy a 5-string bass? Maybe Stevie Wonder’s Superstition or anything else reaching down to Eb, D or even Db?

No need to fork out for a second bass if one alone can do the job. Your BITE Effortless bass carries an optional Hipshot^® D-Tuner, also called drop D tuner or bass extender.

By flipping the lever at the backside of your headstock, your E-string becomes a D-string, you can simply extend your bass range down by a whole note, or even more depending on your note lengths (the string gets floppier the more you tune it down).

If, on the other hand, you don’t need the D-Tuner activated, it won’t disturb you and your EADG tuning, you’ll never notice it’s there.
